OIPA Symposium 2025

Open Institutional Publishing Association logo in red and purple

As a proud member of the Open Institutional Publishing Association, we are excited to join colleagues and collaborators at this year’s symposium. The event will be a great space for sharing ideas, challenges, and innovations in open access publishing, and for shaping the future of equitable, researcher-led scholarly communication.

We believe that open access is more than a publishing model – it’s a commitment to transparency, accessibility, and academic integrity. The OIPA Symposium offers a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded presses during International Open Access week, and explore how we can continue to support authors, readers, and institutions through open, inclusive publishing practices.

It will include a keynote from Dr Samuel A. Moore, Scholarly Communication Specialist at Cambridge University Library and OIPA Advisory Board member, as well as presentations and lightning talks from OIPA members covering topics including experimental publishing, funding and business models, approaches to marketing, open textbooks, open journals publishing and governance. There will also be closing comments from Andrew Barker, Library Director at the University of Lancaster and Chair of the OIPA Advisory Board.
