Supporting library workflows: MARC records for our books available from Thoth
Good metadata travels! We have posted previously about working with Thoth. Thoth Open Metadata is a non-profit, open infrastructure platform for publishing, bringing together metadata management, dissemination, hosting, and usage insights in one place. Built for open access books and chapters, Thoth helps publishers, libraries, and platforms manage their metadata once, distribute it widely, host catalogues and websites, and understand how their content is used.
We’re pleased to have our open access books available via Thoth, because the platform allows publishers to create, manage, and distribute high-quality metadata – including MARC21 and MARCXML records – which libraries can easily download and integrate into their catalogues, either directly from the Thoth Catalogue or via Thoth’s Export API. All records are released under a Creative Commons CC0 public domain dedication.
By using Thoth, libraries can streamline cataloguing workflows, reduce manual data entry, and ensure consistent, up-to-date bibliographic records for open access content.

Daily operations and further development at Thoth are supported through academic library subscriptions via the Open Book Collective, helping to ensure that this open infrastructure remains freely available and community-driven.
