As a predominantly open access publisher, we are committed to realising the benefits of open research for humanities disciplines and researchers. We currently collaborate with a number of partners on our open access publishing, including Jisc, JSTOR, and OAPEN, and our OA titles are available to access via these partners as well as from our own site. We are keen to participate in new funding pilot projects which seek to offer alternatives to the ‘Book Processing Charge’ model, particularly those which involve close collaboration directly with institutional libraries. We have had recent success in securing funding direct from library supporters through Jisc’s ‘Open Access Community Framework’ and with the Knowledge Unlatched scheme (see Projects and initiatives) which are helping us to strategically grow our publishing programme beyond our current financial limits.
Within the current OACF scheme, institutions can become supporter members of a diamond OA publishing initiative that will support us in publishing and promoting a number of open access human rights and social justice titles, without any author-facing fees. Libraries can pledge support until the end of the year. Visit their site for details on how to pledge.
