IHR Shorts is an open access series of concise and insightful commentaries on topical historical subjects. The series is published with the Institute of Historical Research and was designed to cater for new research that’s best communicated in a form that’s longer than a journal article but shorter than a monograph. It covers all historical periods and remits, and especially ideas that speak to contemporary debates, or consider approaches to or the practice of historical research.
